What if you just needed to eat more?

“I thought I was fueling enough… but I wasn’t even close.”

One of the athletes I coach said that to me the other day — and it’s something I hear almost every time I start with someone new.

She reached out to me after years of trying to reach her marathon goals.

She was training hard.

Eating “healthy.”

Doing everything she thought she was supposed to be doing.

Yet she wasn’t seeing the results she wanted on the course.

And the most frustrating part?

She kept blaming herself.

She just couldn’t understand why all the training wasn’t producing any results.

So she kept waking up earlier and pushing even harder…

Which ultimately just led to slower times and worse injuries.

What we determined is that she just wasn’t eating enough.

As someone training almost ten hours per week, she was eating less than the average sedentary American.

AND she was only taking one gel every 45 minutes during her marathons.

Now there’s a lot behind that.

And it hasn’t been an easy journey.

We live in a society that’s constantly telling you to eat less in order to achieve some unrealistic body shape.

As a result, when you decide to pursue athletic goals, you get to throw out pretty much every piece of diet advice you’ve ever heard.

It can be tough to know what you actually need.

But once we started to adjust her fueling — gently and strategically — everything shifted.

Less fatigue.

Better performance.

Fewer injuries.

And most importantly, she also rekindled her love of running.

Which is really the whole point.

If you’re tired of doing this alone and would like some support, then let’s chat.
